STAR is a comprehensive structural analysis system for use in testing andanalyzing the dynamics of mechanical structures (i.e., solving noise,vibration, and failure problems). STAR operates on a set of measuredfrequency response functions (FRFs) to identify the modal properties ofthe structure (frequency, damping, and mode shapes). STAR estimates themodal parameters of the structures and displays the mode shapes inanimation.STAR incorporates a "what if" approach, allowing the end user toanalytically modify the mass, stiffness, and damping properties of astructure to determine a new set of modal parameters reflecting anymodifications.
